Lake Tahoe Experience-

Midkiff & Associates, Inc. is the foremost Planning and Permitting Consulting firm in the Tahoe Basin, representing public and private clients with TRPA and other permitting agencies for a broad range of commercial, tourist, recreation and public service projects for over 18 years. We work with project proponents, engineers, and architects in the planning and permitting of all types of projects requiring TRPA approval. Our clients include major casinos and landowners, Lakefront estates, Washoe and Douglas Counties, General Improvement Districts, and even the TRPA.

Project Principal-

Gary D. Midkiff, graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Forestry. He has over 30 years in planning, permitting, and public and private administration, including 7 years at TRPA ( 5 as Assistant Director and 2 as Acting Director), and over 18 years as a private consultant providing permitting assistance and project facilitation at Lake Tahoe. Gary has extensive experience and contacts throughout the Tahoe Basin, including permitting many projects (public and private) through the TRPA, NV State Lands Div., NTRPA, and US Army Corps of Engineers.

Description of Past Projects-

Water and Utilities Related Projects

Stateline Stormwater Association (Built)- Worked with representatives of 4 casinos, Douglas County, and Nevada Dept. of Transportation, Wells Fargo Bank, and Park Cattle Company to organize the Association, manage design, permitting, and construction of stormwater facilities for Stateline Casino Core, Stateline, NV. Glenbrook Water Cooperative (Built)- Worked with Water Cooperative to obtain permitting for new Ozonation plan on the shore of Glenbrook Bay, including a new water intake line which required permitting by the TRPA, NV State Lands Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Coast Guard. (Coast Guard approval was required for a marker buoy at the intake structure which is adjacent to the homeowner's buoy field and there was concern about anchor dragging damage to the intake line and structure.) Edgewood Golf Course Remodel and Course Modifications (Built)- Worked with applicant and architect on permitting at TRPA and County for expansion/remodel of clubhouse and modification of golf course, expansion of wetlands and stream restoration. Work included permitting for Edgewood Water Company Ozone Treatment system. Also permitted a new Lake Intake pipeline through the TRPA, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NV State Lands Division, and U.S. Coast Guard. Other projects are ongoing. Sand Harbor State Park, New Interpretive Center (Under Construction)- Worked with Nevada State Parks to permit construction of the new interpretive center and concession facility. We have permitted the fire suppression intake line from Lake Tahoe. Gary Midkiff provided expertise during design and permitting stages and Kim Iliffe was instrumental in obtaining the final permits and trouble shooting during construction. Lake Tahoe Area Projects

Douglas County Kahle Regional Park (Built)- Worked with County Recreation Dept. to obtain TRPA permits for Gymnasium expansion and additional parking for the major Douglas County Regional Park at Stateline, NV. Glenbrook Golf Club, Clubhouse and Proshop Reconstruction (Built)- Worked with client and architect to obtain TRPA and Douglas County permits for new clubhouse and Proshop of private golf course in Glenbrook, NV.

Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, Incline Village, NV (Built)- Worked with Architects and owners representatives to secure permits for the Lone Eagle Grill and Conference Center and pier working with TRPA, NV Division of Wildlife, NV State Lands Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Washoe in the permitting of these facilities. Also obtained permits for recent Hyatt Vacation Club Timeshare project at the site, and in June, 2001 obtained permit for remodel of main hotel tower and reconstruction of rear hotel wing. Midkiff and Associates was primarily responsible for the permitting of the Lone Eagle Grill and Pier. Applebee's Restaurant, South Lake Tahoe, CA (Built)- Worked with the City of South Lake Tahoe, TRPA, and Caltrans to permit a new restaurant that opened in 2003. Midkiff and Associates was responsible for negotiating the design with the City and processing the applications through the agencies. Kim Iliffe took over responsibility for the permits prior to and through the construction process, working under the direct supervision of Gary Midkiff. Contact: Applebee's Intl., 913-967-4089

Municipal/Agency Projects

Washoe County Branch Library (Built)- We worked with Washoe County and TRPA to obtain permits for the Incline Village Branch Library. Contact Don Jeppson, 775-328-2049, Washoe County Public Works Division

Washoe County Maintenance Facility (Built)- Worked with Washoe County, Nevada Department of Transportation, and TRPA to obtain permits for the new road maintenance station in Incline Village. Contact Don Jeppson, 775-328-2049, Washoe County Public Works Division

Incline Elementary School (Built)- Midkiff and Associates worked with Washoe County School District, local leaders, and NV Congressional Delegation to obtain legislation allowing sale of USFS land to District for new Incline Village Elementary School. Additional projects that Midkiff & Associates has had major involvement in facilitation of permitting and construction include the Park Ave Redevelopment Project in South Lake Tahoe, CA; Private Redevelopment of the Round Hill Shopping Center at Round Hill, NV with over 100,000 square feet of commercial floor area; Major exterior remodels of the Harrah's, Harveys, and Horizon Casinos at Stateline, NV with permitting requirements of TRPA and Nevada TRPA Gaming issues.
